The Genesis Aluminium Z-Bar Carpet Lock ensures a smooth and professional transition between various floor levels and materials. Designed for ease of installation, this profile provides a polished appearance while safeguarding the edges of the floor coverings, even when slight irregularities are present.

Technical Details

Genesis Aluminium Profiles are offered in a variety of finishes, including anodised and powder-coated options. Natural Aluminium (Mill Finish) features an oxide film approximately 0.2 microns thick, which can be enhanced to 5 microns through polishing and up to 20 microns for matte finishes. Powder-coated finishes reach a thickness of 100 microns.

Maintenance

These profiles require minimal upkeep. Oxidation films on aluminium can be removed with standard polishing agents, but they will reform over time. For damaged anodised finishes, re-coating is necessary. When installing in chemically active environments, ensure the aluminium’s compatibility to avoid corrosion, particularly from alkali exposure.

Clean any adhesive or grout residue promptly, and ensure the profile is embedded securely to prevent water collection in cavities. The anodised surface is durable under normal use but is prone to scratches, so handle with care during installation.

Dimensions

Available in 28mm width with depths of 9mm or 14mm. Standard lengths are 0.9m, 2.7m is available for the 28mm x 9mm.

Installation Instructions

1. Measure and cut the profile to the required length.
2. Place the profile against the hard flooring and secure it using the fixing points provided.
3. Drill and plug the substrate as necessary.
4. Install the hard flooring and press the profile into place, either by hand or with a Genesis rubber mallet (code 901).
5. To avoid surface damage during installation, cover the profile with a protective cloth or similar material.
