The AHP 60 x 32mm Non Slip Tredsafe Aluminator® Heavy Duty PVC Stair Nosing is designed for versatile use in both commercial and domestic settings. The rear of the profile tapers to 3mm, providing greater flexibility during installation. Beyond its primary function of step edge protection, this nosing offers an efficient solution to illuminate steps. In the event of a local or emergency power failure on stairways, which can increase the risk of hazards for evacuees, the Aluminator® system helps individuals to orientate, locate stair edges and risers, thereby aiding in the safe evacuation of the premises.
When installing with tile adhesive, this should provide adequate fixing. However, if required, most tile-in nosings offer a mechanical fixing option using 5mm holes within the flange, making them suitable for wood and laminate floors that do not require tile adhesive. Check the fit of the nosing and ensure the profile is the correct height and width for the step and floor covering. Install the floor covering on the riser. Place the nosing firmly on the step and, if necessary, mark the floor. Drill and plug the floor if mechanically fixing. Apply the adhesive using a suitable notched trowel, following the manufacturer’s recommendations. Bed the profile into the adhesive, ensuring that the adhesive comes through all the flange holes, and spread the adhesive over the top of the flange before installing tiles. A grout gap is not required, but if visible, ensure that grout is firmly compressed within the gap
